A Message from Judy…
I am so happy to have met you all at WIBS! What a great group of women taking charge of their lives.
I took my own advice that I gave in my speech. I did something different on my trip to Solana Beach—I took the train rather than drive. I've never taken the train and what could have been a boring car trip, turned into quite an adventure. Especially on the way back where the train was delayed for two hours and there were NO seats. But, there was something there—tons of comedy material.
As I was sitting on the floor in middle of the aisle, a young man tripped over me, saying, "I didn't see you!"
I mean, how is that possible? As I said, I was sitting in the aisle, wearing a bright lime green shirt, I have red hair and he wasn't blind.
I retorted loudly enough for the people around me to hear, "You didn't see me because I'm a woman over 40 years old and in Southern California that means I'm invisible! I could rob a bank. 'What did the robber look like?' 'I don't know. She was over 40!'"
A woman sitting in a chair was laughing at my impromptu comedy routine and we started to talk. She runs the Jewish Community Center of San Diego. She told me all about the good work her organization was doing and by the time I got to LA, I had a new friend and a speaking gig.
As I said in my speech, doing the same old thing will give you the same old results. When you do something different, things might not end up the way you planned, but sometimes you end up with a new friend, new material, and a great story.
And if you are interested in learning how to be more entertaining when you speak, know that I do private consultations via Skype, guaranteed to make you funnier. And I'd be happy to give a discount to my WIB friends. Just email me for a free 10 minute consultation. judy@judycarter.com
